Martindale pilling tester testing process

Author:QINSUN Released in:2023-02 Click:145

Martindale Pilling Tester is used to measure the pilling degree of various fabrics under light pressure and the abrasion resistance of fine cotton, linen, woven fabrics of spun silk, imitation leather and synthetic leather. The Martindale pilling tester can be customized to customer needs with 4 stations, 6 stations and 9 stations. Each station can be tested simultaneously to improve testing efficiency. The instrument is also equipped with two kinds of small Lissajous curves and large Lissajous curves (Lissajous) 24mm × 24mm, 60.5mm × 60.5mm orbit. Equipped with different weights and fixtures, the grinding head can be adapted to different national standards and American standards, while performing pilling and wear resistance functions.

Operating Principle:
1. Under a certain pressure, the circular sample and the fabric of the same material are rubbed according to the movement trajectory of the Lissajous figure to achieve the specified numberrevolutions. Then evaluate the pilling level of the sample. This principle corresponds to the test of the degree of fluffing and fluffing of fabrics as defined in the standard 2. Under a certain pressure, the round fabric sample and the standard abrasive rub against each other according to the trajectory of the Lissajous curve, resulting in When the sample is damaged, the abrasion resistance of the fabric is expressed by the number of times the sample is damaged.

Test Principle:
1) Friction Resistance Test
The round fabric sample is fixed on the sanding table, and the friction test is performed with the friction head fixed with the standard friction cloth.
There are three evaluation methods: the determination of sample damage, the measurement of mass loss and the evaluation of appearance changes
2) Pilling test
The pilling test method used on Martindale is combined with EMPA developed. The test is suitable for knitted en woven fabrics (made from spun yarns). Use a test instrument to simulate the pilling that occurs during normal wear. Under light pressure, rub the sample on the sample holder and the fabric on the grinding table with a certain geometric figure, and then grind the sample compared to standard photos. According to the types of samples tested, it can be easily divided into: sample photo knitting pilling review, sample photo woven fabric pilling review. And it is divided into five degrees according to the redness of the eyes of pilling
5-no pilling? 4-light pilling? 3-moderate pilling 2-severe pilling 1-very severe pilling

Test method:
The test sample is rubbed against the standard friction cloth under the specified pressure and after reaching the predetermined number of revolutions the abrasion resistance of the sample is evaluated.

Method
1. Sample Preparation
Lay it flat in a standard environment and in an unstretched state for a period of time according to different standards. For example 24 hours (GB/T 4 80 2 .2-19 97), 16 hours (EN ISO 12947-4:1998)
2. Selection of samples
Cut from different parts of the whole door fabric Take a sample, the sample must be representative. In the case of fancy fabrics, the samples should include all the different weaves and shades present on the surface;
3. Remove the load and load shaft from the testing machine;
4. Remove the top plate and test stand;
5. The device of the sample:
make the test stand The mounting ring of the test piece is removed and the sample is placed in the base of the test stand. When the tested fabric is not more than 500 g/m2, a piece of polyester foam is placed between the sample and the metal block of the sample clamp; when it is more than 500 g/m2, or a composite fabric, no foam is used vetravels. The samples on each sample holder must be subjected to the same voltage.
6. Installation of wool felt and abrasive cloth:
Put the felt and abrasive on the grinding table, put the weight on the abrasive, then put the pressure ring on it and tighten the nut so that the pressure ring abrasives are fixed on the grinding table.
7. Place the grinding head on the abrasive and apply pressure;
8. Place the test fixture with the sample facing down on the base fixture and adjust the circular groove of the test fixture to align with the load axis so that the load axle is inserted into the circular groove of the test fixture;
9. Set the number of times according to the standard, start the switch, start the test, and automatically stop after reaching the set number of times:
10. Collect the sample and compare it to the standard sample in the evaluation box.

Notes on the operation of the Martindale Pilling Tester:
1 . The rubbing cloth cannot be used repeatedly. Replace a piece of friction cloth;
2. The wool felt can be used repeatedly. If the surface is worn or stained, it should be replaced and can be used on both sides;
3. Dyer Abrasion Test;
4. After the test is completed, if the surface table of the sample has abnormal phenomena such as wear, broken yarn, fluff or severe pilling, severe wear, etc., it will be judged as unqualified. 5. When preparing samples, special attention should be paid to prevent hair changes on the cutting edges, so as to avoid unnecessary loss of quality and appearance changes.
6. Pay attention to operating specifications and personnel safety while using the instrument.

Maintenance of the Martindale Pilling Tester
1. The exterior of the instrument should be cleaned and cleaned regularlyunmade to ensure the cleanliness of the test instrument
2. Check the test instrument to see if there is any deviation;
3. During the use process, each user should use it according to the correct use method, and should not use it in violation of the regulations, so as not to damage the instrument and shorten the life of the instrument;
4. After using the test instrument, each user should arrange the instrument and clean the instrument accordingly to ensure that the instrument is clean;
5. When the instrument is not in use, it should be placed. The power of the instrument is turned off and the instrument is kept clean continuously.
