Experimental operation steps of Martindale abrasion tester

Author:QINSUN Released in:2023-02 Click:147

The Martindale Abrasion Tester can test a minimum of four samples at a time and can test a maximum of nine samples at a time. Each test position consists of a protruding round base with a flat ring to hold abrasives etc. The object under test is clamped onto the cylinder and a load (weight) is added to it. If no weight is added, the pressure generated by the weight of the flat plate on the friction object about 0.1342Kg/cm2 or 13.16Kpa. Different test methods, Fixtures with different weights (weights) can be used for the tested object. The test sample seat is driven by the flat plate to produce a Lissajous figure movement direction, but the axis of each test sample seat is on the flat plate. For the free rotation method, clamp a graphical sample of the measured object to the fixture and place a specified weight on it. After the clamp clamps the measured object, the contactt with the standard friction material (cloth, sandpaper, etc. determined according to various test standards) below, resulting in 1. Lissajous Graphics. And produce a multi-directional friction. Each time a Lissaru figure is completed, the counter jumps 16 times and the time is approximately 20 ± 1 second. Martindale Abrasion Tester Test Operation Steps:

Abrasion test refers to rubbing the sample along a geometric trajectory under the known pressure and friction mode. The line then gets wider and wider forming an ellipse, then narrows again, finally forming a straight line in the opposite direction of the original straight line. By repeatedly rubbing the test piece along the above trajectory up to the specified number of cycles, different methods are described to evaluate the abrasion resistance.

Test procedure
1. All tests must be performed in the default environment.
2. Placea piece of standard wool felt on each test platform, with a diameter of about 140mm, and then put a standard wear-resistant cloth of similar size, and press the loading weight on the platform so that the standard wear-resistant cloth and the wool felt is flatter. Clamp the wool felt and standard cloth, then remove the weight of the sample and check whether the wool cloth is curled or not clamped tightly. Reload the sample if necessary. 10-3 For option 3, to evaluate the test results, the sample should be weighed to the nearest milligram.
3. Place the front of the sample on the sample holding ring. For samples with a cloth weight less than 500gsm, place a sponge with a diameter of 38mm on the sample and then place it in the metal insert According to the manufacturer\'s instructions Sample loading and storage instructions.
4. Place the loaded sample on the wear resistantplatform and add a weight with the required pressure on the sample: 9KPa for clothing fabrics and 12KPa for decorative fabrics.
5. Refer to the instrument manufacturer\'s instructions, set the number of revolutions of the instrument and start walking. If it is option 1 and 2, check the sample during the testing process and at the end. As the end of the test approaches, reduce the number of turns on each inspection, and if the sample pills, trim it with curved scissors. For option 3, after reaching the end of the run, weigh the sample to the nearest millimeter.
