Experimental steps of a combustion tester for automotive interior materials

Author:QINSUN Released in:2023-08 Click:113

Automotive Interior Materials Combustion Tester is a test equipment independently developed and produced by our company qisnun Precision Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd., with high cost performance and comprehensive after-sales service. The horizontal direction burning performance test method is used to determine the relative burning rate and flame retardancy of various textile fabrics, garments, tents, especially automotive interior fabrics.

Applicable standards:

GB 8410, ISO 3795, FMVSS 302, DIN 75200, SAE J369, ASTM D5132, JIS D 1201, AU 169.

Main Parameters:

1. Flame application time: 0-999.9s±0.1s adjustable;

2. Delayed burning time: 0-99h59m59. 99s±0.1s;

3. Test wind speed: between 0.10m/s and 0.30m/s;

4. Test gas: liquefied petroleum gas or 35 MJ/m3 to 38 MJ/m3 of other combustible gases (such as natural gasel, city gas).

Test procedure:

1. Set the temperature to 10℃~30℃ and relative humidity at 15%~80% of the test environment.

2. The distance between the sample and the frame is at least 20mm, and the sample fixing frame is installed on the upper support of the combustion box to ensure that the sample is vertical.

3. Place the marking line horizontally in front of the sample pressing plate. The distance between the marking line and the sample surface is 1mm and 5mm respectively, and the marking line should maintain sufficient tension.

4. Light the gas lamp, adjust the height of the flame to 40 mm ± 2 mm, adjust the angle of placement of the gas lamp, and form an angle of 30° with the plane where the sample is located.

5. After the sample is ignited in the flame of the gas lamp for 5 seconds, turn off immediately.remove the gas lamp and reset it.

6. If the sample does not burn, it is considered unignited and another pretreated sample should be retested, but the ignition time of the sample in the flame of the lamp to gas is 15s.

7. If a result of a group of three samples exceeds 50% of the minimum value, another group of samples in the same direction must be tested again. If one or two samples from a group of three samples do not burn to the third line of marking, take another group of three samples in the same direction and retest.

8. Measure the following time in seconds (s):

a) Time t1 from the start of ignition until the flame burns a marking line;

b) The time t2 between ignition and the flame burning the second line of marking;

c) The time t3 between ignition and the flame burning the third line of marking.

9. Calculation

For the sample whose burning flame reaches at least the first marking line, the combustion rate (Vi) is calculated according to the following formula:

Vi=60×(Di/ti)

In the formula:

Vi——burning rate, the unit is millimeter per minute (mm/min );

i——the blade burns up to one/two/three marking lines, respectively 1, 2 and 3;

Di——the combustion distance between the flame burning and the marking line 1/2/3, in millimeters (mm);

ti——burnt flame The burning time of the 1/2/3 mark line, the unit is second(s).

The burning rate of each sample is taken as the largest value among V1, V2 and V3, and the burning rate of a group of samples is taken as the test result of the burning rate. combustion of three or more samples, and the calculation The result is rounded to whole numbers.
