For pile carpets or traditional carpets, an important parameter is the retention performance of their pile.

Poor quality carpets may completely lose their pile in certain situations, such as on stairs. For loop carpets, good loop edges can prevent the formation of long loops.

This instrument can measure the force required to pull out a single pile or loop from a carpet, that is, the bonding force between the carpet pile and the backing.

This instrument is commonly used in laboratories to test small amounts of samples, but it can also be used in certain specific situations where existing carpets or large carpets are present.

Testing method:

The carpet sample is fixed by a steel template, and one end of the tested pile is clamped with a surgical forceps, or a pile ring is hooked with a metal hook. The surgical forceps or metal hooks are connected to a force balance, which is maintained by a small electric motor to increase the pulling force at a stable rate. When the tension reaches its limit, the balance displays the desired high tension.

The standard instrument's balance has a maximum tension of 5kg, and when measuring carpets with higher tension, a balance with a force of 10kg can be selected.
