Its main characteristics are:
(1) When the ultrasonic wave propagates through the medium, it has reflection characteristics on different interfaces . When the size of the defect is equal to or greater thane to the wavelength of the ultrasonic wave;
The ultrasonic wave reflects off the flaw and the flaw detector can display the reflected wave;
If the size of the defect is even smaller than the wavelength, the sound wave will bypass the defect and cannot be reflected;
(2) The directivity of the sound wave is good, the higher the frequency, the better the directivity, so A very narrow beam radiates in the medium, and it is easy to determine the position of the defect.
(3) The propagation energy of the ultrasonic wave is large, such as the energy transmitted by the ultrasonic wave with a frequency of 1MHZ (1 MHz), which is equivalent to 1 million times the sound wave with the same amplitude and frequency of 1000HZ (Hertz).
