Taber Abrasion Testing Machine Test Experimental Sample Requirements

Author:QINSUN Released in:2023-08 Click:106

There are two types of taber wear resistance testing machines: single wheel and double wheel. The wear resistance of materials is evaluated by the friction between the grinding wheel and the sample. It is a test equipment independently developed and produced by our company Qisnun Precision Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. Welcome to request customer inquiries. Our research and development engineer said that in order to ensure that the wear resistance of the material can be objectively reflected, the requirements for the sample when testing are as follows:

Requirements Thickness:

Taber 5135/5155 Wear Resistance Testing Machine Standard specimen thickness is 6.35 mm (0.25 inch). For specimens thicker than 6.35 mm (0.25 inches) and less than 12.7 mm (0.5 inches), it is necessary to adjust the lifting nut S-21. Thicknesses greater than 12.7 mm (0.5 in.ce) require the use of an abrasive support arm lift.

Taber Abrasion Tester can accommodate non-standard size sample testing needs by selecting sample pads and sample plates. All sample pans are equipped with a ball valve and pin spring to hold the sample pan to the motor shaft. This device prevents the specimen holder from vibrating during the test and allows the specimen holder to be easily removed for specimen observation or to clean the mounting holes on the motor shaft.

Dimensional requirements:

Wheel path width is 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) and the distance from the center of the sample is 31.75 mm (1.25 inches). The sample size is related to the sample material. For most hard samples, the sample size can be a square with ua side length of 100 mm (4.0 inches). For soft specimens, the specimen is round and a specimen retaining ring is used. If a sample pad is used, the sample should be 108 mm (4.25 inches) in diameter. If a sample pad is not used, the sample diameter should be 135 mm (5.25 inches) so that the sample retainer ring can tighten around the edge of the sample .

If the sample is smaller than the recommended size, you can put 2-3 samples on the sample pad to meet the test needs. If the edges of the sample do not meet or the thickness of the sample is different, the results of the abrasion test reflected on the edge will be different from the results of other parts of the sample.

Sample pads (S-36 and S-36-1):

Rigid 108 mm (4.25 in) diameter sample pads coated with a sensitive adhesivethe pressure on one side. When used to test textiles and other soft samples, the sample can be firmly placed on the sample pad to prevent wrinkles. A test record sheet is printed on the back of the sample pad to record sample test information. There are 2 types of sampler pads, square (S-36) and round (S-36-1).

Sample pad form (S-37 and S-37-1):

108mm (4.25 inch) diameter rigid sample pad coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive on both sides, the adhesive is covered with a peelable release paper before use. Thinner than S-36 and S-36-1, S-37 and S-37-1 are used for samples that do not slide on the turntable, especially samples that cannot be pierced in the center, like glass and ceramics. There are 2 types of sample pads, square (S-37) and round (S-37-1). The front and back of the sample pad are printed with a test record sheet to record the sample test information or use the E140-19 square sample base to fix the square sample without drill holes.
