Sample preparation for Martindale Abrasion Tester Test

Author:QINSUN Released in:2023-04 Click:131

Martindale Abrasion Tester can test the abrasion resistance and pilling performance of various fabrics. Under a certain pressure, the sample and the specified abrasive are subjected to continuous reversing friction, and the degree of wear and pilling is evaluated by comparison with the standard parameters. The Martindale Abrasion Tester, independently developed and produced by our Standard Group (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. is controlled by a touch screen and equipped with a fully equipped programmer, which can pre-program batch and total counts and set the counts of each test head separately.

Sample preparation:

1. Selection of samples

To obtain representative samples, it is necessary to select different parts of the chain - and weft yarns need special attention for some samples with special properties. For example, the selected sample of printed fabric should contain the fullcontain empty cartridge to avoid missing some parts sensitive to friction; the woven fabric should keep a certain distance from the edge of the door width. In addition, the number of samples selected also affects the accuracy and repeatability of the test. The larger the number of samples tested, the stronger the representativeness and the higher the accuracy. On the contrary, if the number is too small, the randomness of the test results will be greater and the reliability will be low. The minimum number of samples chosen is 3.

2. Pre-treatment of the sample

Since the fabric is packed and rolled up before sending to the test, it is in a tight condition. For a better test, it should be placed in a standard Stretch it flat for a while to allow the tested fabric to recover from the tight state. If the pre-treatment is not present, the fabric will be under tension and the wear resistance will decreased deteriorate, which will affect the accuracy of the test.
