Martindale Abrasion Tester Test Method and Procedure

The Martindale Abrasion Tester independently developed and produced by our company Standard Group (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. is controlled by a touch screen, equipped with a complete programmer, which can be pre-programmed for batches and counting and can be set individually for each test head. Martindale Abrasion Tester can test the abrasion resistance and pilling performance of various fabrics. Under a certain pressure, the sample and the specified abrasive are subjected to continuous reversing friction, and the degree of wear and pilling is evaluated by comparison with the standard parameters.

The Martindale Abrasion Tester is suitable for two kinds of test methods, the basic operation is as follows:

1. Under a certain pressure, the round sample and the fabric are made of the same material The movement trace of Lissajous figure is rubbed and after reaching the specified number of revolutions, the degree of pilling of the mrecently evaluated.

1. For this test method, it is recommended that users use the countdown in this instrument, which is more intuitive. Turn on the instrument's power switch, touch the function menu, and then touch the countdown key. The display screen starts counting down, then touch the setting display window to set the data as the number of friction revolutions required in the test method standard.

2. Prepare the sample and abrasive according to the standard method.

3. Clamp the sample to the friction head required in the method standard, with the test surface facing out. When the tested fabric is not more than 500 g/m2, a piece of polyester foam is placed between the sample and the friction head; when it is more than 500 g/m2 or a composite fabric, no foam is required. The eight samples were subjected to the same voltage when clamped, so refer to relevant standardsfor specific industries.

4. Place the felt and abrasive on the 4 sample platforms respectively, put the sample loading hammer on the abrasive, then tighten the abrasive tight ring to fix the abrasive tight ring on the sample platform, and make 4 abrasives subjected to the same voltage.

5. Place the friction head on the abrasive and insert the connecting rod through the station hole of the guide plate on the friction head. Whether to add a sample weight or a disk depends on the requirements of each test method.

6. After confirming that the Lissajous motion curve specifications are correct, touch the start button and the instrument will start working until the number of friction is 0 and the instrument will stop automatically.

7. Remove the sample, compare the standard photo in the evaluation box and evaluate the degree of pilling of each sample.

8. When you take the following test, you musttouch the reset button to return the instrument to its original state.

2. According to Standard Methods Prepare standard abrasives, standard pads and samples.

3. Cover the standard sandpaper on the standard sandpaper. The surface of the standard schur paper should not have any wrinkles, yarn knots or uneven thickness. And put a sample loading hammer on the standard abrasive, then tighten the abrasive tight ring, so that the abrasive tight ring is fixed on the sample table, and make sure that the four abrasives are under the same tension. A new standard abrasive or sample should be used at the start of each test and after 50,000 rubs a new standard abrasive should be replaced after the test is completed.

4. Install the sample on the friction head required in the method standard and at the same time fill polyurethane foam between the sample and the friction head.

5. Place the friction head on the abrasive and insert the connecting rod through the station hole of the guide plate on the friction head. Whether to add a sample weight or a disk depends on the requirements of each test method.

6. After confirming that the specifications of the Lissajous movement curve are correct, touch the start button and the instrument will start working up to the predetermined number of friction revolutions and the instrument will stop automatically.

7. Observe the wear rate of each sample and estimate the number of revolutions of the friction interval required to continue the test. Then according to the above setting method, reset the number of revolutions of the friction interval in the setting window, and restart the instrument to work. If some of the 4 samples have reached the test termination status, touch the corresponding station count window to lock the station count function and remove the friction head from the station. Then, continue the experiment until all 4 animals are in the terminated state of the experiment.

8. Record the cumulative friction data for each station.

9. For the next test, you must press the reset buttontouch to return the instrument to the original state, and then reset the predetermined friction rotation number.
