1. Martindale Abrasion Tester Introduction:
Martindale Abrasion Tester is suitable for woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, non-woven fabrics, decorative materials, coated fabrics etc. Abrasion resistance test and apparent pilling performance test. Martindale Abrasion Tester Principle: The substance to be tested is placed in the upper sample holder and rubbed against the abrasive installed on the grinding table. The friction trajectory is a Lissajous figure. After the specified friction phase according to the test requirements, remove the fabric and calculate the abrasion resistance index or evaluate the fuzzing and pilling level of the sample through visual description.
2. Operation Method
1. Sample preparation
Put it in a standard environment for a period of time according to different standards in a flat, unstretched state. For example 24 hours (GB/T 4 80 2 .2-19 97), 16 hours (EN ISO 12947-4:1998)
2. Sample selectionrs
Cut from different parts of the entire door fabric Take a sample, the sample must be representative. If it is a beautiful fabric, the sample should include all the different textures and colors presented by the fabric surface;
3. Remove the load and load shaft from the testing machine;
4. Remove the top plate and test fixture;
5. Example device:
Loosen the retaining ring on the test fixture, remove the hold-down piece from the sample and place the sample in the test fixture base. When the tested fabric is not more than 500 g/m2, a piece of polyester foam is placed between the sample and the metal block of the sample clamp; when it is more than 500 g/m2, or a composite fabric, no foam is required. The samples on each sample holder must be subjected to the same voltage.
6. Installation of wool felt and abrasive cloth:
Place the felt and abrasive on the grinding table, put the weight on the abrasive, then put the pressure ring on it and tighten the nut so that the pressure ring abrasives are fixed on the grinding table.
7. Place the grinding head on the abrasive and apply pressure;
8. Place the test fixture with the sample facing down on the base fixture and adjust the circular groove of the test fixture to align with the load axis so that the load axle is inserted into the circular groove of the test fixture;
9. Set the number of times according to the standard, start the switch, start the test, and automatically stop after reaching the set number of times:
10. Record the sample and compare it with the standard sample in the evaluation box.
Third, definition:
The figure formed by the changing motion. This movement is repeated diagonally from a circle to a narrowing ellipse until it becomes a straight line, from where it goes back to an expanding circle nlike a circle.
4. Experiments to verify the accuracy of the Lissajous curve:
1. Remove the material from the grinding table, use a diameter of (100±5)mm and a minimum mass of 100g per unit area Plain white paper /m2 is fixed on the surface of the grinding table to ensure that the surface is smooth .
2. Insert the stainless steel sleeve with the same diameter as the sample pin into the sample guide plate in the socket and install a ballpoint pen. Touch the tip of the pen to the surface of the paper.
3. Turn on the instrument and make the number of rotations 16 times to form a complete Lissajous figure.
4. Peel off the paper and draw two parallel lines on it, just intersecting the outermost curves on the two opposite sides of the graph. Draw two more parallel lines for the other sides. Check the symmetry of a total of 31 curves using appropriate methods. Please refer to lemove the instrument if the curves overlap or are unevenly distributed.
5. Evaluation of fabric abrasion resistance
The evaluation of fabric abrasion resistance usually has the following methods:
1. Observation of changes in appearance properties
General Under the same test conditions, after a certain number of abrasions, observe the changes in the surface gloss, lint, pilling and other appearance effects of the sample, and usually compare it with the standard sample to check its quality to evaluate. It is also possible to use the number of rubs required for a certain number of sand lines to break on the surface of the sample after wear, or for holes of a certain size to appear on the surface of the sample as a basis for evaluation .
2. Determination of changes in physical properties
After the sample has been worn a certain number of times, the veraChanges in physical and mechanical properties such as weight, thickness and breaking strength are measured to determine the degree of abrasion resistance of the fabric.
