(3) Chinese National Standard:
GB/T 4802.2: Determination of pilling properties of textile fabrics
/>GB/T21196: Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by Martindale method (Martindale abrasion tester, sample breakage determination, mass loss determination, appearance change evaluation)GB/T13775: Abrasion test of woven fabrics of cotton, hemp and silk
(4)EU standard :
EN?ISO?12947 Determination of abrasion resistance of fabrics using the Martindale method for textiles
(5)British Standard Society
BS?ISO12947 textiles use the Martindale method (Martindale) to test the abrasion resistance of fabrics, etc.
Scope of application:
Martindale Abrasion TesterIt is suitable for testing the abrasion resistance and apparent pilling performance of woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, non-woven fabrics, decorative materials, coated fabrics, etc.

Operating Principle:
The tested fabric of the Martindale Abrasion Tester is placed in the top sample holder and rubbed against the abrasive installed on the grinding table. The friction trajectory is a Lissajous figure. After the specified friction phase according to the test requirements, remove the fabric and calculate the abrasion resistance index or evaluate the fuzzing and pilling level of the sample through visual description.

Technical features and technical parameters:
(1) Number of stations: 9;
(2) Counting range: 0-999999 times
(3) Maximum stroke : horizonlanguage 60.5 ± 0.5mm, vertical 24 ± 0.5mm

Method
1. Sample preparation
In a standard environment, lay it flat and in an unstretched state for a certain time according to different standards. For example 24 hours (GB/T 4 80 2 .2-19 97), 16 hours (EN ISO 12947-4:1998)
2. Selection of samples
Cut from different parts of the whole door fabric Take a sample, the sample must be representative. If it is a beautiful fabric, the sample should include all the different textures and colors presented by the fabric surface;
3. Remove the load and load shaft from the testing machine;
4. Remove the top plate and test fixture;
5. Sample device:
Loosen the retaining ring on the test fixture, remove the hold-down piece from the sample and placethe sample in the test fixture base. When the tested fabric is not more than 500 g/m2, a piece of polyester foam is placed between the sample and the metal block of the sample clamp; when it is more than 500 g/m2, or a composite fabric, no foam is required. The samples on each sample holder must be subjected to the same voltage.
6. Installation of wool felt and abrasive cloth:
Put the felt and abrasive on the grinding table, put the weight on the abrasive, then put the pressure ring on it and tighten the nut so that the pressure ring abrasives are fixed on the grinding table.
7. Place the grinding head on the abrasive and apply pressure;
8. Place the test fixture with the sample facing down on the base fixture and adjust the circular groove of the test fixture to align with the load axis so that the load axle is inserted into the circular groove of the test fixture;
9. Set the numbertimes in accordance with the standard, start the switch, start the test and stop automatically after reaching the set number of times:
10. Remove the sample and compare it to the standard sample in the evaluation box.

Notes on the operation of the Martindale Abrasion Tester:
1. The friction cloth cannot be used repeatedly and must be replaced each time a test is completed. A rubbing cloth;
2. Wool felt can be used repeatedly. If the surface is worn or stained, it should be replaced , and can be used on both sides;
3. Insole The fabric must be removed first and then the Martindale abrasion test is carried out;
4. After the test is completed, the surface table of the sample shows abnormal phenomena such as fraying, broken yarn, fluff, severe pilling, and severe wear, and it is rated as unsatisfactory. 5. Special attention should be paid when preparing samples aand preventing hair changes at the cutting edges, to prevent unnecessary loss of quality and appearance changes.
6. Pay attention to operating specifications and personnel safety while using the instrument.

Maintenance of the Martindale Abrasion Tester
1. The instrument should be cleaned and cleaned regularly to ensure the cleanliness of the test instrument
2. Do the test regularly Check the instrument to see if there is any abnormality;
3. During use, each user should use it according to the correct method of use, and should not use it in violation of the regulations, so as not to damage the instrument and shorten the service life of the instrument;
4. After using the test instrument, it must be each user arrange the instrument and clean it accordingly to ensure that the instrument is clean;
5. When the instrument is not in use , hTurn off the instrument and keep the instrument clean.
