Accurate traceability is of utmost importance. It is understood that in order to comprehensively strengthen the prevention and control of cold chain food, Zhejiang requires imported cold chain food to be labeled with "cold chain food traceability code". Through food traceability blockchain technology, precise traceability of cold chain food in high-risk countries and regions can be achieved to ensure the quality and safety of cold chain food.

With the rapid development of the Chinese economy and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, imported food has gradually become an important component of the dining table for ordinary Chinese people. According to relevant data, over 57% of consumers currently spend more than 10% of their total food consumption on imported food. It is understood that China imports a variety of food products, including imported fruits, imported dairy products, imported alcoholic beverages, imported meat, imported cold chain foods, etc., to meet the needs of different consumers.

This year, due to the impact of special events, as well as the impact on meat processing enterprises in Europe and America, and the recent detection of problematic products in imported cold chain food in many parts of China, many Chinese consumers have also been concerned about the quality and safety of imported food and its cold chain transportation. Therefore, many provinces and cities such as Beijing, Henan, Binzhou, Hefei, Xuzhou, and Shaanxi have continued to carry out special inspections on imported frozen and frozen food, comprehensively identifying food safety risks and hidden dangers, and effectively ensuring the safety of the general public.

Recently, in order to further plug loopholes, prevent the spread of viruses through cold chain transportation of livestock, poultry meat, aquatic products, and their packaging, and ensure that there are no blind spots in prevention and control, Zhejiang Province relies on the "Zhejiang Cold Chain" system to strengthen the precise traceability of imported cold chain food, especially food from countries and regions with high epidemic incidence, and for cold chain food imported after May 1, 2020, Require the addition of cold chain food traceability codes on the outer packaging of products, and encourage food producers and operators to assign and scan codes.

Food traceability code is mainly a two-dimensional code label that records the original production data of raw materials, such as production date, consumption period, origin, producer, etc. Each batch of imported cold chain food will have a traceability code.

Although the food traceability code is small to open, it contains important information related to cold chain food, as it records all the key information of this batch of imported cold chain food from production to the dining table. Consumers only need to scan to know the "past and present" of the product.

It is understood that there are currently three main types of food traceability technologies, including RFID wireless radio frequency technology, QR code, barcode, and product batch information. RFID wireless radio frequency technology mainly involves adding a chip label on the product packaging, which can automatically collect and read relevant information, and the product flow can be recorded on the chip. Barcode plus product batch information is a commonly used food traceability technique. The QR code can be used to scan and search for product related information, including production bases, processing enterprises, distribution enterprises, etc.

The Zhejiang cold chain system is mainly based on blockchain technology, with food operating enterprises and agricultural wholesale markets as the first station to enter the Zhejiang supply chain. Afterwards, the "cold chain food" is assigned and scanned, achieving closed-loop traceability management from the first station of the supply chain to the consumer products, and comprehensively grasping the flow of the "cold chain food" supply chain. Consumers only need to scan the source code to directly obtain the product information of the cold chain food, including the export country or region, origin certificate, production date, imported product inspection and quarantine information, etc.

With the upgrading of consumer food and the diversification of product demand, coupled with the support of open policies and the continuous improvement of trade facilitation measures, the consumption scale of imported food in China is growing rapidly. More and more imported food (including frozen and refrigerated food) are continuously enriching the dining tables of Chinese residents. However, under the influence of special events this year, food traceability blockchain technology will play an important role in tracing and accurately locating the flow of cold chain food in Zhejiang, and quickly and properly disposing of it.
