The sphere impact tester is designed in accordance with European Regulation 43 (2.1-2.1.4) and is used to test the impact resistance of tempered glass and soft glass used in automobiles. The detection method is to freely drop a 227 gram (g) steel ball at a height of two (2) meters (m) at the center of a 300 square millimeter (mm) test sample. The equipment base is a precision machining box device made of powder coated steel structure. The test sample is clamped and fixed between the upper and lower edges of the base using rubber gasket material. The spherical drop tube tower uses one (1) vertical 80/20 extruded aluminum product with a support plate to fix the tube above the sample drop box.

There is a stop pin on the catheter, located two (2) meters above the sample, used to secure the drop ball before testing. After the operator removes the stop pin, the sphere will land within the geometric center of 25mm of the sample.
