Experimental Method and Procedure for Martindale Abrasion Test of Leather Shoe Material

Author:QINSUN Released in:2023-03 Click:158

Wear test is greatly affected by the test conditions, such as the nature of the wear-resistant cloth, the difference in movement of the sample on the wear-resistant cloth, the tension of the sample, the pressure between the sample and the wear-resistant cloth, the sample Any dimensional change affects wear resistance.
The results of this test are different due to the change of the abrasion resistant cloth in the specified test. The wear-resistant cloth must be replaced regularly and tested against the standard. to replace. A carbide or equivalent surface can be used as a durable wear plate. At present, in a series of tests, it is not necessary to replace the wear plate accordingly. Due to the inconsistency of the actual use situation, the same wear plate can be used in the same period. Inner surface changes can be inconsistent. Due to the modification of the surface finish, the wear-resistant plate will become gchanged, in addition, the wear-resistant plate must be cleaned regularly due to the influence of other substances such as test samples. The evaluation method and different evaluators will also influence the final results of the wear test.

Standard Group (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. uses experiments to briefly introduce you to the Martindale abrasion test experiments on leather shoe materials.

Experimental method of Martindale abrasion test for leather shoes

Test method :
The Martindale Abrasion Tester can test at least four samples at a time and can test up to nine samples at a time. Each test position consists of a protruding round base with a flat ring to hold abrasives etc. The object under test is clamped onto the cylinder and a load (weight) is added to it. If no weight is added, the pressure generated by Heyt weight of the flat plate on the friction object about 0.1342Kg/cm2 or 13.16Kpa. Different test methods, Fixtures with different weights (weights) can be used for the tested object. The test sample seat is driven by the flat plate to produce a Lissajous figure movement direction, but the axis of each test sample seat is on the flat plate. For the free rotation method, clamp a graphic sample of the measured object on the fixture and place a specified weight on it. After the clamp clamps the measured object, it will contact with the standard friction material (cloth, sandpaper, etc. determined according to different test standards ) below, resulting in 1. Lissajous Graphics. And produce multi-directional friction. Each time a Lissaru figure is completed, the counter jumps 16 times and the time is approximately 20 ± 1 second.

Martindale Abrasion Tester Test Operation Steps:
1. Turn on the power, turn on the power switch on the side of the instrument;
2 Control 3 Positioning of a bearing pulley;
3. Set the desired speed in;
a) Press the "*" key below the display to clear all individual counters;
b) Press the "0" key to Stop the operation of a particular counter;
c) Press the "1" key to count only the operation of a certain counter;
d) Press "2" to clear the displayed data on a certain counter;
4. Place the sample and abrasive in the sample holder or on the sanding table according to the requirements of different method standards;
5. Press the green button to start the test;
6. Set the number of revolutions After the beep is completed, the machine will beep for 1 minute or press the red button "RST" to end the beep and return to the setting status;
7. If you do the same operation, you can directly press the green button;if it is different, press the green button to start spinning after resetting the number of revolutions;
8. Record the number of revolutions after the test is over.

The abrasion resistance of textiles measured by instruments in the laboratory can be used as an evaluation of the performance index and durability of textiles in practice.
Routine assessment of abrasion resistance applies to all kinds of fabrics, including woven fabrics, non-woven fabrics, knitted garment fabrics, home textiles, industrial fabrics, carpets, etc. Thus, there are many different types of abrasion resistance testers, wear-resistant cloths, test conditions, test procedures, methods for evaluating abrasion resistance, interpretation of results, etc.
