Flat abrasion resistance of woven fabrics

Author:QINSUN Released in:2023-03 Click:140

As an important wearability of textiles, abrasion resistance has a great influence on the wearability of cloth clothing, so it is one of the important evaluation indicators of wearable fabrics, and it is receiving more and more attention from the industry. Improving the wear resistance of fabrics has a great effect on improving the wearing function of fabric clothing, especially in some special fields, such as labor protection clothing, the requirements for fabric wear resistance are higher.

In general, wool woven fabrics have the best abrasion resistance, viscose woven fabrics have the worst abrasion resistance, polyester/cotton blended fabrics. wear resistance of the fabric is intermediate. This corresponds to the high deformation capacity of the fiber material under repeated stretching and the abrasion resistance of the fabric. The deformation capacity of the fiber upon repeated stretching depends on the strength, elongation and elastic capacity of de fiber. Therefore, although the strength of wool fiber is not high, its elongation and elasticity are large, and the breakage after repeated stretching decreases less, and the wear resistance of the fabric is better. Although viscose fiber has high strength, the elasticity is poor, and the work-to-breakage decreases significantly after repeated stretching, so the wear resistance of the fabric is poor. Polyester fiber has a high breaking capacity and a high elastic recovery capacity. Although these properties decrease after blending with cotton, the abrasion resistance of the blended fabric is still quite good.

The fabric specification factors that affect the flat abrasion resistance of woven fabrics include fabric fiber raw materials, weave, warp and weft density, warp and weft yarn density, fabric thickness and areal density. The correlation obtained from the test is as follows:

(1) The greater the deformation capacity of the fiber material under repeated stretching, the better the abrasion resistance ofn the fabric.

(2) For loose fabrics with low warp and weft densities, the abrasion resistance of plain weave fabrics is better; but for tighter fabrics under the same other conditions, the abrasion resistance of twill weave fabrics is Better than plain weave.

(3) Under the same conditions, the linear density of the yarn in the fabric, or the warp and weft density of the fabric, or the thickness and areal density of the fabric are positively correlated with the abrasion resistance of the dust. The influence of the temperature and humidity conditions during the experiment on the test results is mainly reflected in the fiber, that is, the humidity has a significant effect on the wear resistance of viscose fiber, has almost no effect on polyester fiber and acrylic fiber, and has a certain effect on nylon fiber.
