On February 22nd, according to blogger @ Xiaodi Express, BYD's first car roll on/roll off transport ship, EXPLORER NO.1, has entered the North Sea through the English Channel and is about to arrive at its destination port!

Previously, on January 15, 2024, Pioneer 1 held its maiden voyage ceremony at the Shenshan Xiaomo International Logistics Port. On February 6th, it entered the Atlantic Ocean through Cape of Good Hope and headed towards Europe.

According to the plan, Pioneer 1 will sail towards the port of W ü rlingen in the Netherlands and the port of Bremerhaven in Germany. The opening of this new route has officially sounded the horn for domestic new energy vehicle companies to enter the shipping industry, opening up the "national vehicle self transportation" model.

It is understood that Pioneer 1 is the first car transport ship built by a domestic shipyard specifically for the export of domestic cars.

It has a total length of 199.9 meters, a width of 38 meters, a designed draft of 8.6 meters, a designed speed of 19 knots, and can accommodate up to 7000 vehicles.

This type of car roll on/roll off transport ship applies the latest LNG dual fuel power technology to meet the needs of multiple routes and accommodate various new energy vehicles.

In the next two years, BYD will gradually put into operation seven more roll on/roll off ships, and BYD's energy storage battery technology and shaft generator system will be applied on board.
