Turning waste into treasure, drying up garbage may allow cars to “run further”

In 2019, the State Administration of Government Affairs issued a notice announcing the "Evaluation Reference Standards for Public Institution Household Waste Classification Work". "Garbage classification" has truly become a "reasonable and reliable" livelihood project, and has achieved stable progress and good results with the support of policies in various regions. Many people have also started to grow from being difficult to distinguish between dry and wet "novices" to environmental experts who can accurately classify garbage.

However, even so, garbage classification is only the beginning for garbage disposal. As is well known, the purpose of garbage classification is to better handle garbage and achieve maximum resource utilization. Among the many types of garbage, the disposal methods for recyclable waste and wet waste (perishable waste) are relatively simple and abundant, and the recycling effect is also relatively good; Harmful waste, due to its relatively clear types and comprehensive targeted and safe disposal methods, cannot be recycled. However, as long as it is classified correctly, it is not a difficult task to handle. The key to the problem actually lies in dry garbage.

Dry garbage, also known as other garbage, as the name suggests, does not belong to the other three types of garbage. Therefore, the types of dry garbage included are very complex, including bricks, tiles, ceramics, slag, toilet paper, porcelain fragments, as well as large garbage such as scrapped vehicles, household appliances and furniture, and construction waste. These wastes are less harmful, so there is no need for special treatment like hazardous waste; But at the same time, their availability is low and their recycling value is not high. This has also led to the dilemma of most dry waste facing no effective solution.

But recently, a new invention has provided a new solution for the treatment of dry waste. This invention did not come from a laboratory, but from an Argentine electromechanical engineer. According to relevant reports, the engineer has been thinking about how to convert waste into energy for car use since 2008, and based on traditional fuel gasifiers, through continuous experimentation, has designed a special gasifier device. The structure of this device is very simple, it is a metal pot with a lid and two holes, and the appearance looks like a water heater of over 50 liters. The working principle is to use the "garbage gas" after the combustion of dry garbage to reach the car engine through a hose and make it run.

It is worth mentioning that this special kinetic energy method not only provides the car with a speed of 115 kilometers per hour and a range of over 600 kilometers, but also exhausts oxygen through the exhaust port. Therefore, theoretically speaking, it is a feasible waste treatment and energy utilization method. Of course, there are also many problems with this approach, such as not being low-carbon enough and the equipment not being lightweight enough. However, the technological approach is indeed feasible. Currently, most dry waste treatment methods are still landfill or incineration. Utilizing the energy generated while processing is a good direction. Perhaps with the continuous maturity of technology, dry waste can truly become a special energy source that can replace gasoline in the future.
