The Deep Value of Hybrid Cloud: Elastic Interconnection, Security and Efficiency

The cloud computing industry has gone through more than ten years. The explosive demand represented by the Internet has vigorously driven the cloud computing industry to achieve rapid growth. Nowadays, almost all industries and enterprises have begun to embrace cloud computing and enjoy the convenience and benefits it brings.

Public cloud, private cloud, edge computing and PaaS/SaaS models can provide cloud service solutions for different enterprises. Enterprise information officers and IT executives can leverage various cloud technologies to tackle new and more complex business challenges. According to market research firm Gartner, more than 90% of organizations will utilize hybrid clouds to build infrastructure after 2020. The IBM Institute of Business Value (IBV) further predicts that by 2021, 98% of organizations will adopt a multi cloud architecture. So, for enterprise users, hybrid cloud has become the trend.

In the past two years, major cloud computing vendors have been competing to expand their presence. Among manufacturers, such as Microsoft, they have launched the Azure Stack hybrid cloud solution extended from Azure, helping enterprises deploy cloud applications in local data centers; AWS and VMware jointly developed the VMware Cloud on AWS hybrid cloud solution.

Looking at the domestic market, Huawei provides lightweight hybrid cloud management capabilities for enterprises through its Stack (HCS) full stack cloud solution using cloud federated hybrid cloud components; ZTE has launched a multi cloud management and hybrid cloud management platform, which achieves unified management of hybrid clouds through cloud interconnection, cloud access, and other capabilities.

In terms of technology, key cloud computing technologies continue to innovate. The continuous enrichment of cloud native technology systems such as containers, microservices, and middleware promotes the agile development of application development and deployment. Cloud architecture extends from the center to the edge, and distributed clouds have become a new form of cloud computing. Cloud security is transitioning from external to native, achieving end-to-end full chain security protection.

For enterprises that need to adopt a hybrid cloud architecture, their own IDC can continue to maintain the advantages of compatibility, compliance, maturity, and stability. In order to leverage the elastic expansion, rapid deployment, and low-cost advantages of the cloud, and gain the value brought by cloud computing accelerated innovation, for a considerable period of time in the future, most small and medium-sized enterprises will inevitably choose a hybrid cloud architecture.

Hybrid cloud storage has natural advantages over IT systems. Firstly, it is the integration of existing resources. Combining hybrid cloud with traditional business, storage, and computing architectures can achieve better resource integration and utilization. Secondly, seamless intelligent interoperability can be achieved in the cloud for data. When transitioning from traditional architecture to cloud architecture, not only can seamless applications be implemented, but agile development can also be further carried out in the cloud. It is worth noting that there are various types of hybrid cloud services, and through services such as AI, containers, databases, microservice frameworks, video services, big data, etc., it can help customers comprehensively enhance their business capabilities.

The network quality during data synchronization is crucial when using a hybrid cloud architecture for storage. The stability of the network sometimes directly affects the stability of the entire hybrid cloud architecture. If there are requirements for data security, it cannot be transmitted directly through the Internet. Data needs to be backed up, encrypted, etc., and large amounts of data also require higher bandwidth requirements.

From a network perspective, 5G can accelerate and increase bandwidth, further reducing data latency. As 5G deployment begins to impact cellular networks, hybrid cloud ecosystems will increasingly leverage opportunities for computing at the edge. Overall, hybrid cloud has higher flexibility in use and is the preferred solution for enterprises considering cost-effectiveness.

However, although hybrid cloud combines the security of private cloud, it brings with it the complex network configuration brought by APIs, which challenges the knowledge, experience, and ability of traditional system administrators. Cloud service managers within enterprises also need to continuously expand their knowledge system, enhance their understanding and mastery of relevant technologies.

Of course, with the expansion of the hybrid cloud market and the development of business, the huge industrial scale also needs to be regulated and guided, and achieving standardization has become an inevitable choice. The formulation of policies and regulations for users, cloud service providers, and cloud regulators will gradually be put on the agenda and implemented as a reality.
