Standard comparison of Martindale test methods for abrasion resistance

Author:QINSUN Released in:2023-03 Click:133

Martindale\'s fabric abrasion resistance test methods can be mainly divided into three types: sample damage test method, mass loss test method and appearance change method. Among them, the first two are objective evaluations with high accuracy, while the method of changing the appearance is strongly influenced by subjective factors.

As in national standard:
GB/T 21196.2-2007: Determination of abrasion resistance of textile materials by Martindale method Part 2: Determination of sample fraction
GB/T 21196.3 -2007 Determination of Abrasion Resistance of Textile Fabrics by Martindale Method Part 3: Determination of Mass Loss Rating?

British Standard:
BS EN ISO 12947-2:1998: Textiles. Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method Determination of the breakage of samples
BS EN ISO 12947-3:1998: Textiles Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method Determination of mash loss
BS EN ISO 12947-4:1998: Textiles Determination of abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method Assessment of appearance change,

The most commonly used of the three methods is the sample damage test method. This method has small errors, and the test results are self-observing. It is easy to compare, and it is widely used in clothing products and decorative fabrics. The expression form of the test results of the loss of quality measurement method and the appearance quality change method is relatively complicated, but can reflect the wear resistance of the sample in different stages of friction.
