New quantum algorithms emerge. Quantum computers can be used to study multi electron quantum systems

Author:QINSUN Released in:2024-01 Click:59

According to the National Science Foundation (NSF), a research team led by researchers from City College New York, West Washington University, University of California, Santa Barbara, Google's artificial intelligence quantum team, and University of Michigan researchers has developed a new quantum algorithm with NSF funding. Quantum computers are expected to use this algorithm to study a class of multi electron quantum systems. The study has been published in the Journal of the American Physical Society, Physics Review X: Quantum.

According to Professor Gami, the lead researcher, when there are macroscopic quantities of quantum particles (such as electrons interacting within metals), new phenomena such as superconductivity will occur. However, so far, the tools available to study a large number of interacting quantum particle systems and their novel properties are extremely limited. The new quantum algorithm developed by its research team can utilize quantum computers to study a class of multi electron quantum systems, opening up new directions for using new quantum devices to study problems that traditional computers find difficult to solve. Professor Gami stated that quantum computers have developed rapidly in the past few years, and the development of new quantum algorithms can help achieve more applications of quantum computers.
