New Breakthrough in Perovskite Batteries! Scientists have discovered non-toxic and biodegradable solvents

Author:QINSUN Released in:2024-01 Click:57

Previously, we have introduced perovskite batteries multiple times. This new type of battery has advantages such as high conversion efficiency and low cost, and is a key research direction for many enterprises and research teams.

But it has not yet undergone commercial mass production due to its poor stability and inability to prepare on a large scale. Among them, in order to improve the defects of poor stability, scientists often use a special solvent that is toxic and made of unsustainable materials, which has been banned in many countries. This shows that perovskite batteries encounter many difficulties in mass production.

Recently, scientists from the Specific Innovation and Knowledge Center at Swansea University announced that they have discovered a non-toxic biodegradable solvent called γ- Pentolactone (GVL). This solvent is not only made from renewable materials, but also non-toxic and biodegradable. It can be used for large-scale preparation and is allowed to be used in most countries, making it a very good alternative.

Regarding this, members of the leading team of scientists stated that there are still many issues that need to be addressed before the commercialization of perovskite battery technology. I hope that this discovered solvent can be used on a large scale soon, so as to achieve comprehensive environmental protection from production to use of solar cells.
