Analysis of the principle of textile pilling

Author:QINSUN Released in:2023-03 Click:119

Lint formation in textiles is a common occurrence in daily life, especially cotton textiles are susceptible to pilling. These are unavoidable problems in textiles. Many consumers find that cashmere sweaters pilling phenomenon, and therefore have doubts about the quality of cashmere sweaters, and now I will introduce this problem to consumers.

The main factors influencing the pilling of fabrics are as follows:
Fiber length: The lint level of fabrics woven with longer fibers is lighter than fabrics woven with shorter fibers. fibres; the small number of fiber heads per unit length, fewer fiber ends are visible on the surface of the yarn and fabric; in addition, the cohesion between the long fibers is relatively large, and the province is not easy to slip to the surface of the yarn and fabric.
Fibre fineness: thicker fibers are less prone to pilling than thinner fibres. The yarn spun from thick fibers has mfewer fibers per unit area and fewer fiber ends visible on the surface of the yarn and fabric; moreover, the thicker the fibers, the stiffer they are, and the fibers are on the surface of the yarn. dust is not easy to entangle into balls.
Fiber curl: more shrinkage of fibers, greater cohesion between fibers, increased friction, less free fiber at the surface of the fabric and less pilling.
The cross-sectional shape of the fiber: the cross-sectional shape of the fiber is close to a circle, and the cohesive force between the fibers is small.
Fiber strength, elongation and elasticity: Fiber strength and elongation are high, and good elasticity is not easy to break and fall off when rubbed. Once fluffy, it is easy to tangle into balls. Yarn twist: The twist of the yarn is large, the bond between the fibers is tight, and the degree of pilling of the fabric is reduced.
Tissuetexture: Knit fabrics are easier to pill than woven fabrics.
In addition, the finishing process of the fabric and the way of wearing and washing also influence the degree of pilling of the fabric.

Why do cashmere sweaters pill? This is determined by the properties of cashmere sweater fibres.
From the analysis of raw materials, the fineness of cashmere is 14.5-15.9um, the length is 30-40mm, and the curl is 3-4 pcs/cm, showing that cashmere is thin and short, and the curl is smaller than that of fine wool. The cross section of cashmere fiber is almost circular; cashmere is also a fiber with strong single fiber strength, excellent elongation and elasticity.

From the analysis of the twist of cashmere yarn, in order to obtain a good hand feeling of cashmere sweater, the twist should not be too large when spinning, so that the bond between the fibers is not very tight.
From the analysis of the structure of cashmere sweater, cashmere sweater belongs to knittede fabrics, and in order to make the cashmere soft and smooth, it is necessary during the finishing process to go through a key process, which is milling. One of the purposes is to shrink part of the fibers in the cashmere and covering the surface of the cashmere sweater to make it feel soft, so that it is easy to make the fluff on the surface of the cashmere sweater intertwine into a ball.

In summary, it is not difficult to conclude that a little pilling is a normal phenomenon for cashmere sweaters. The national standard for the textile industry has clear regulations for pilling of knitwear and the pilling grades are divided into 1-5 grades: grade 1 is the worst, severe pilling; grade 2 is significant pilling; grade 3 is general pilling; grade 4 grade 5 is slightly pilling; grade 5 is best, no pilling. The standard also clearly defines the pilling of cashmere knitweare clothes, the pilling number of premium cashmere knitwear is not lower than 3-4 degrees, and the pilling quality of premium products is not lower than 3rd grade.
As a consumer, try to avoid friction with various hard objects when wearing cashmere sweaters. If local pilling is found, it can be gently removed and then cleaned and ironed without affecting the wearing effect.
