The main reason for UV aging is caused by the short ultraviolet wavelength of 300-400nm. In the short wavelength region of ultraviolet light, i.e. from 365 nm to the low wavelength band of sunlight, UV fluorescent lamps can simulate sunlight well. 1. The impact of sunlight on products:

Climate and solar radiation are the main causes of damage to coatings, plastics, inks and other polymeric materials , including light loss, discoloration, yellowing, cracking, peeling, embrittlement, loss of strength and delamination. Even indoor light and sunlightl Through glass windows can degrade some materials causing discoloration or fading of paints, dyes, etc. Since solar radiation has a dual effect of thermal radiation and photochemical effect, the high temperature test cannot replace the light aging test, and the pure ultraviolet radiation and infrared radiation cannot replace the solar radiation test.

2. UV aging test step:

UV aging test can be set to three kinds : light, condensation and spray aging model.

Lighting scene

Simulate the duration of daylight in the natural environment (typically between 0.35W/m2 and 1.35W/m2, and the light intensity noon sun in summer is about 0.55W/m2) and test temperature (50°C~85°C), to simulate various usage environmentsof the product and meet the testing requirements of different regions and industries.

Condensation step

Simulate the phenomenon of fogging on the sample surface at night, turn off the fluorescent ultraviolet lamp (dark state) during the condensation step, do not control than the test temperature (40~60°C) and the sample surface humidity 95~100% RH.

Spray stage

The rain process is simulated by continuously spraying water on the surface of the sample. Since artificial ultraviolet accelerated aging test conditions are much more severe than the natural environment, aging damage that may only occur in the natural environment for several years can be simulated and reproduced within days or weeks.

3. There are three types of commonly used UV weathering lamps:

UVA-340: The main purpose is to simulate theshort and medium wavelength range in the ultraviolet part of sunlight, and it is generally used for outdoor product light. Aging test.

UVA-351: The main purpose is to simulate the short and medium wavelength range in the ultraviolet part of sunlight filtered by window glass, and it is generally used for interior products.

UVB-313: They emit considerable radiation below 300 nm, which is the nominal cut-off wavelength for solar radiation. This will induce certain aging phenomena which do not occur on the outside. This light is not recommended for simulating sunlight. This type of test is mainly widely used to speed up the durability test of materials, as a qualitative comparison of two or more materials.
