Test procedure for color fastness to rubbing of fabrics-AATCC8-2004 standard

Testing the color fastness of fabrics against abrasion is an area on which textile companies should focus. , Before textiles are put on the market, we need to understand and evaluate the frictional properties of such textiles. Here, the engineers from Standard Group (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. briefly analyzes for you: the test steps for the color fastness to rubbing of fabrics.

1. Color fastness to rubbing
1. Purpose and scope (not used for carpets, AATCC165 for carpets)
2. For measuring the degree of staining of colored fabrics by rubbing, suitable for fiber products, such as yarn, yarn-dyed, printed and dyed textiles.

2. Test Principle
Under certain conditions, the test sample is rubbed against the standard white rubbing cloth and the gray card used to judge the degree of color transfer to the small white cloth.

Three, equipment and standard materials
1. AATCC Crockmeter (AATCCC Crockmeter): The friction head is round, with a diameter of 1.6 cm, a reciprocating stroke of 10.4 ± 0 .3 cm and a vertical pressure of 9 ± 10% N.
2. Friction small white cloth (5 cm × 5 cm)
3. AATCC staining gray card

4. Sample preparation< br/> 1. Cut two samples, each at least 13*5cm, one for dry rub, the other for wet rub, the longitudinal direction of the sample should be oblique to the warp and weft of the fabric. 2. If it is yarn, it can be woven into fabric first, each piece is at least 13*5 cm or tightly wrapped on a suitable frame along the length, at least 13*5cm.
3. Sample and the white rubbing cloth must be placed in an environment with a temperature of 2±1°C and a relative humidity of 65+2% for a minimum of 4H.

5. Test procedures

(1) Natrubbing
1. Fully wet the white rubbing cloth in distilled water, take out and squeeze the white cloth to make the moisture content 65±5%; prepare a test sample each time, avoid evaporation to reduce the moisture content.
2. The remaining steps are the same as 5.1.1-5.1 .4 in the above dry rub.
3. Hang the white rubbing cloth air dry and repeat 5.1.5 4. Evaluate the stains of the white rubbing cloth.

(2) Dry rub
1. Place the sample flat on a rubbing instrument covered with sandpaper On the base surface is the longitudinal direction along the rubbing direction and fixedOk, put the sample pressure plate properly.
2.Put the white rubbing cloth face down, with the lines parallel to the rubbing direction, fix it on the rubbing part and clamp it with springs.
3 Place the rubbing finger lightly on the sample, do not let the spring clamp touch the sample.
4. Starting fromthe end of the friction finger closest to the side, at a speed of one circle per second, move the friction arm 10 times, so that the friction arm rubs back and forth for 20 seconds. 2% for at least 4 hours. After the test, some fibers may stick to the friction cloth, which will affect the rating. Before judging, use transparent glue to gently stick and rub the loose lint on the white cloth.

6. Test report
1. The number of this standard is AATCC8-2004
2. Whether dry friction or wet friction .
3. Report the assessment results.

7. Precautions
1. Use three layers of unused rubbing white fabric pads on the rubbing white cloth to be assessed Then refer to the AATCC standard staining gray door-to-door service to check the staining level of the rubbing white cloth.
2. The dry and wet rub resistance must be two samples of the same sample. That is, they cannot be in the same part of the sample. Repeat the dry and wet rub test.
3. If the front and back of the sample are made of different materials, different colors or different processing methods, the front and back should be tested for rub resistance.
4 .For different colors of the same variety, if the flower shape is larger than 2 inches, the rub resistance test will be carried out according to the flower shape.
5. When sorting, if the flower shape is different and the coloring is uneven, the darkest color will be used Assessment.
6. Replace the sandpaper regularly (usually when the friction point is slippery or the test sample slips in bright and wet conditions, it means that the sandpaper needs to be replaced).
7. After rubbing, the small white cloth is stained with a circle. The ooutline should be round and clear.
8. The clamp sample should be flat, without shifting or creasing when rubbed.
