Taber 5135 Wear Testing Machine Sample Size Requirements

Author:QINSUN Released in:2022-12 Click:187

Product Introduction

Taber 5135 and Taber 5155 are grinding wheel abrasion testing machines (Taber 5135 is a single grinding wheel, Taber 5155 is a double grinding wheel), which evaluates the wear resistance of materials through the friction between the wheel and the sample. To ensure that the wear resistance of the material can be objectively represented, the requirements for the sample during the test are as follows:

Size requirements:

The path width of the grinding wheel is 12.7 mm (0.5 in) and the distance from the center of the sample is 31.75 mm (1.25 in) . The size of the sample is related to the material of the sample. For most hard samples, the sample size can be a square with a side length of 100 mm (4.0 in). For soft samples it is best to round the sample and use a sample retaining ringknow. If a sample pad is used, the sample must be 108 mm (4.25 in) in diameter. If a sample pad is not used, the sample diameter should be 135 mm (5.25 in.) so that the sample retaining ring can be clamped around the edge of the sample.

If the sample is smaller than the recommended size, 2 to 3 samples can be placed on the sample pad to meet the needs of the test. If the edges of the sample do not meet or if the thickness of the sample is different, the wear test results reflected on the edge will differ from the results of other parts of the sample.

Thickness Requirements:

Taber 5135/5155 Abrasive Tester Sample Standard 6.35 mm (0.25 centimeters) thick. For samples greater than 6.35 mm (0.25 in) and less than 12.7 mm (0.5 in) in thickness, the S-21 riser nut must be adjusted. Thicknesses greater than 12.7 mm (0.5 in.) faris the use of an abrasive standard arm riser.

The Taber Abraser can meet the needs or testing of non-standard size samples by selecting sample blocks and sample pans. All sample trays have a ball valve and a dowel spring to hold the sample tray on the motor shaft. This device prevents the sample pan from vibrating during testing and allows easy removal of the sample pan for sample observation or cleaning of the mounting holes on the motor shaft.

Sample Pads Sample Pads (S-36 and S-36-1)

Diameter 108 mm (4.25 in.) rigid sample pads coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side. When used for testing textiles and other soft samples, the sample can be placed firmly on the sample pad to prevent wrinkling. A test record sheet is printed on the back of the test block for storing sample test information. Er zThere are 2 types of sample pads, square (S-36) and round (S-36-1)

Sample pad shape Sample pad shape (S-37 and S -37-1)

108 mm (4.25 in) diameter rigid sample pad coated on both sides with pressure sensitive adhesive, adhesive It is covered with a protective paper that is torn off before use. Thinner than the S-36 and S-36-1, the S-37 and S-37-1 are used for samples that do not slide on the turntable, especially samples that cannot be drilled in the center, such as glass and ceramics . There are 2 types of monster blocks, square (S-37) and round (S-37-1). Both the front and back of the sample block are printed with a test sheet for storing sample test information

Or use a square sample base E140-19 to fix a square sample without punch holes.
