Spray Water Repellency Tester, Spray Method AATCC22

The spray water repellency tester can be used to assess the water repellency of the fabric surface. The instrument is an all-metal structure. Quantitative distilled water passes through the standard nozzle 150mm below the 45 degree jet to test the sample. After the test, the sample surface compares and evaluates with the standard graphs. 1. Purpose and scope:

1. The standard applies to any textile fabric whether or not it has been treated to be water repellent. This standard can measure the water resistance of fabrics and is particularly suitable for textiles treated with water-repellent properties, especially plain fabrics.

2. Due to the simplicitness and portability of this instrument, the test procedure is relatively simple, which makes this standard particularly suitable for the control of products in the factory. Since this standard cannot measure the performance of water droplets penetrating the fabric, it is not recommended that this standard be used to evaluate the rain penetration resistance of waterproof fabrics.

3. The test results of this standard relate to the initial water repellency and wettability of the fiber, yarn and fabric finish, and have little to do with the structure of the fabric.

2. Test principle:

Under the specified conditions and procedures, spray water on a waterproof test piece. surface, a wetting pattern forms on the surface and its size is related to the water repellency of the fabric. The results of the assessment are determined by comparing them to the standard model.

3. Instrumentsand Raw Materials:

Spray Water Repellency Tester; cup; Demineralized Water.

4. Test Sample:

Three pieces of 180*180mm (7*7 inch) test samples are required. Humidity setting for at least 4 hours in a standard environment of 65±2%.

5. Test procedure:

1. Place the specimen on a metal ring with a diameter of 152 mm, face up, and ensure that the surface is smooth and wrinkle free.

2. Place the metal ring with the sample on the tester storage table, pay attention to the position of the sample when placing it, and make sure that the center of the ring sample is exactly aligned with the center of the spray ring. For some twill, pique or similar striped structures, when the sample ring is placed on the stage, the direction of the stripes should be placed diagonally to the direction ofthe flow of water.

3. Pour 250ml of deionized water at a temperature of 27±1°C into the funnel of the tester and let it spray on the sample within 25-30 seconds. When deionized water is poured, the beaker should not touch the funnel. If the funnel is moved, the pattern and shape of the sample spray will be changed. The spray time should be between 25 and 30 seconds, otherwise the nozzle should be checked to see if its hole is enlarged or clogged.

4. Hold one side of the sample ring, place the sample face down and quickly tap the other side against a hard object, then rotate the sample 180° horizontally and quickly tap the original holding place with the original tapping place to tap the unfinished part of the sample surface. Wet drops.

5. Repeat the above steps to test the remaining two samples.
