The flat grinding is to exert plane friction on the test sample in a certain motion shape, which simulates the wear shape of the clothes\' sleeves, buttocks, bottoms of socks, etc.

During the test, a test sample of a certain size is contacted with a standard abrasive under a certain pressure, and the sample is moved in a Lissajous orbit relative to the abrasive, so that the test sample is subjected to uniform wear in multiple directions. There are three commonly used methods to judge the abrasion resistance index, namely the end point method, mass loss method and appearance change method.

1. End point method:
When two yarns of different warp and weft of the woven fabric are broken, and one yarnof the knitted fabric is broken, a non-woven fabric with a hole size of not less than 0.5 mm, the velvet of the pile fabric is completely worn off, and the number of rubs is recorded as an index of wear resistance.
2. Mass loss method:
The sample is weighed as grade A before the test, and mass B is weighed after a certain number of rubs, then the mass loss is A-B, Or the percentage of mass loss (A-B)/A×100% as an indicator of wear resistance.
3. Appearance change method:
After a certain number of rubs, observe the appearance change of the test sample, such as color change, whether or not there is pilling, and the degree of wear, etc., the degree of appearance change was used as an indicator of wear resistance.

In addition, spinning and fabric design require careful consideration of the influence of yarn and fabric structure on abrasion resistance. If dThe structure of the yarn and fabric is not selected correctly, even fibers with excellent abrasion resistance cannot be spun into yarns and fabrics with excellent abrasion resistance; on the contrary, if the right yarn and fabric structure are selected, fibers with poor abrasion resistance can also be made into a fabric with better abrasion resistance.

Martindale Abrasion Tester_Fabric Flat Grinding Tester is suitable for testing the abrasion resistance and pilling degree of knitted fabrics, woolen fabrics, imitation leather, synthetic leather, etc. under pressure.
Test principle:
1. Under a certain pressure, the round fabric sample rubs against the standard abrasive according to the movement trajectory of the Lissajous curve, resulting in damage to the sample, and the wear resistance of the fabric is expressed by the number of times the sample is damaged.
2. Under a certain pressure, it becomes circular monstar rubbed against the fabric of the same material in the movement trajectory of the Lissajous figure. After reaching the specified number of revolutions, the pilling level of the sample is evaluated.

Test steps:
1. Cut a piece of sample from the flat part of the sample. If it is an insole, it should be cut to the transfer part;

3. Remove the top plate and test stand;
4. The device of the sample: fix the fixing ring on the test fixture and remove the sample tablet, put the sample into the test fixture base, put a sample gasket between the sample and the test fixture base, then put the sample gland on the sample gasket and fix it with a fixing ring;
5 1. Installation of wool felt and friction cloth: loosen the fixing screw to fix the fixing ring, insert the wool felton the base and spread the friction cloth, press a 2.5 kg pressure plate in the center of the friction cloth, replace the fixing ring and lock Tighten the fixing screws;
6. Reinstall the top plate, insert the load shaft (12KPA) through the round hole of the top plate;
7. Place the test fixture with the sample facing down, and on the base mount, place the circular groove of the test mount so that it is aligned with the load axis, so that the load shaft is inserted into the circular groove of the test mount;
8. Set the number of times according to the default, start the switch and start the test. It will automatically stop after reaching the set number of times.

Precautions:
1. The friction cloth cannot be used repeatedly, and a friction cloth must be replaced each time a test is completed;
2. Wool felt can be used repeatedly, the hshould not be replaced until the surface is worn or stained;
3. The insole must be dressed first and then the Martindale abrasion test is performed;
4. After the test is completed, the surface table of the sample is worn. If there are abnormal phenomena such as broken, broken yarn, fluff, serious pilling, serious wear, etc., it will be judged as unqualified.
