Martindale Abrasion Tester-How to Use

Applicable to: GB/T4802.2, ASTM D4970, ISO12945-2 and other fabric pilling degree test. The principle: the circular sample and the fabric of the same material are rubbed with the Lissajous pattern motion track under a given pressure. After reaching the specified number of revolutions, the fuzzing and pilling level of the sample is evaluated. It is also suitable for the abrasion resistance test of GB/T13775, ASTM D4966, ISO12947 and other fabrics. The principle: under a certain pressure, the circular fabric sample rubs against the standard abrasive according to the movement track of the Lissajous curve, resulting in damage to the sample. The wear resistance of the fabric is represented by the number of times the sample is damaged. performance.

   Test principle:

  1) Friction resistance test

   The round fabric sample is fixed on the grinding table, and the friction test is carried out with the friction head fixed with the standard friction cloth.

  There are three kinds of evaluation methods: the measurement of sample damage, the measurement of mass loss, the evaluation of appearance change

  2) Pilling test

   The pilling test method adopted on Martindale was developed in line with EMPA. The test is suitable for knitted and woven fabrics (woven from spun yarn). Use the test instrument to simulate the pilling that occurs during normal wear. Under slight pressure, rub the sample mounted on the sample holder and the fabric on the grinding table in a certain geometric pattern, and then rub the sample after grinding. Contrast level with standard sample photos. According to the types of tested samples, it can be simply divided into: knitting fuzzing and pilling review sample photos, and woven fabric fuzzing and pilling review sample photos. And according to the jealous condition of pilling, it is divided into five levels

testing method:

   The test sample is rubbed with the standard friction cloth under the specified pressure, and after the predetermined number of rotations is reached, the wear resistance of the sample is evaluated.

  Operation method:

   1. Preparation of the sample

   In a standard environment, it is placed for a period of time in a flat, unstretched state according to different standards. Such as 24h (G B /T 4 80 2.2-19 97), 16h (EN ISO 12947-4:1998)

  2, sample selection

   Cut a sample from different parts of the whole fabric, the sample should be representative. If it is a fancy fabric, the sample should include all the different textures and colors presented on the cloth surface;

  3, remove the load and load shaft from the testing machine;

  4, remove the top plate and test fixture;

   5. The device of the sample:

   Loosen the fixing ring on the test fixture, take off the sample pressing sheet, and put the sample into the test fixture base. When the fabric to be tested is not more than 500 g/m2, a piece of polyester foam is placed between the sample and the metal plug of the sample holder; when it is more than 500 g/m2 or a composite fabric, no foam is required. The specimens on each specimen holder shall be subjected to the same tension.

   6, wool felt and friction cloth device:

   Put the felt and abrasive on the grinding table, put the heavy weight on the abrasive, then put the pressure ring, tighten the nut, and make the pressure ring fix the abrasive on the grinding table.

  7, put the grinding head on the abrasive to pressurize;

   8. Place the test fixture with the sample face down on the base fixture, adjust the circular groove of the test fixture to align with the load shaft, so that the load shaft is inserted into the circular groove of the test fixture;

   9. Set the number of times according to the standard, start the switch, start the test, and automatically stop after reaching the set number of times:

  Operation precautions:

   1. The friction cloth cannot be used repeatedly, and a piece of friction cloth needs to be replaced after each test is completed;

  2, wool felt can be used repeatedly, if the surface is worn or soiled and needs to be replaced, it can be used on both sides;

  3, the insole should be clothed first, and then the Martindale wear test;

  4. After the test is completed, if the surface of the sample has abrasion, yarn breakage, fuzzing or serious pilling, serious abrasion and other abnormal phenomena, it will be judged as unqualified.

  5. When preparing samples, pay special attention to cutting edges to avoid hairy changes to avoid unnecessary quality loss and appearance changes.

  6. ​​Pay attention to operating specifications and personnel safety during the operation of the instrument.

maintenance:

   1. The external cleaning and cleaning of the instrument must be carried out regularly to ensure the cleanliness of the test instrument
