Martindale Abrasion Tester Experimental test method

Author: Released in:2023-03-16 Click:11

Martindale Abrasion Tester can test the abrasion resistance and pilling performance of various plants. Under a certain pressure, the sample and the specified abrasive are subjected to continuous reversing friction, and the degree of wear and pilling is evaluated by comparison with the standard parameters. Touch screen operation with complete programmer, pre-programmed batch and total counts, individually set counts for each test head; 4 speeds selectable including standard speeds.

Here are the engineers from Standard Group (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. introduce you to: Martindale Abrasion Tester wet friction method in SATRA TM31 standard:
1. Experimental Test Piece
1 Cutting device, such as a pressing knife, is large enough to make a test piece that is firmly attached to the test sample carrier for accurate testing. The sample size is determined by the confirmation von the test sample carrier. Just in case the SATRA STM105 would have a round diameter of 44+ - 1mm. From different positions on the sheet, avoiding any 50mm manufacturing edge.
2 Cut out a test sample and use it for comparison or reference to the faded or worn sample.
3 The test sample is centrifuged for 24 hours in an environment of 20+/-2°C and a humidity of 65+/-2%.

2. Experimental Steps
1 Soak half of the abrasion resistant samples and half of the wool felt until the color is noticeably darker on both sides of the sample.
2 Place the specimen in each gripping ring with the test side facing out.
3 If the quality of the test sample reaches 500g/m2, test method A or B can be used to put foam in each sample holder to fill the test space of the sample.
4 Clamp the sample to prevent the test sample from hanging, krebend and deform.
5 Place a piece of dry wool felt on one half of the abrasion sample.
6 Place the dry abrasion test sample on the wool felt with the test side up.
7 Place the weight on the specimen, smooth out the wrinkles and remove the weight
8 Repeat step 6.7 on the other specimen
9 If necessary, immediately repeat steps 6.5 to 6.8 Step, use wet abrasion resistant samples and wet wool felt.
10 Correctly place the test sample in the test fixture to ensure that the test can run normally
11 Load the force on each test head to ensure that the test sample and the wear-resistant sample are loaded according to the required force value

Third, Martindale Abrasion Tester for Textile Testing:
1. Textile and Leather Abrasion Test
Circular fabric samples rely on The abrasion test is performed on a standard rubbing cloth. The wear resistance depends on the number of rubs or the gweight consumption of the sample when the sample is dissolved. The rocking path on the test sample\'s rubbing cloth is called the Lissajous figure.
2. Pilling test of textiles and fabrics
The pilling test method used on the Martin-Dell test machine has been developed in collaboration with EMPA. The test is suitable for both knitted and woven fabrics (sand woven from staple fibres). The standard described in language is combined with the EMPA image standard to evaluate the degree of pilling.
3. Movement and amplitude
For certain tasks, an interactive movement test according to the Lissajous figure must be performed regularly. When switching from abrasion test to pilling test, the length of the vibration amplitude must be changed. It is very easy to change the operating mode and amplitude, as long as the position of the drive unit is moved, no other

4. Tools and spare parts are needed.
Standard consumables for Martindale abrasion tester: wool felt (140mm, 90mm), wool cloth (140mm), foam pad (38mm)
