Abrasion resistance of leather is the property of leather that is wear resistant. Leather wear is an important cause of leather damage. Although the abrasion resistance of leather has not yet been assessed as a national standard, the abrasion resistance test of leather is still indispensable for measuring its quality, and it is extremely important for the identification of the abrasion resistance of leather. According to different instruments used in the experiment, there are two commonly used methods: the Martindale flat grinding method and the TABER method wear method. resistant law.

1. Martindale wearing method (10000 times)

(1) Refer to the specification: "GB/T21196-2007 Determination of abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method".

(2) Experimental instruments: There are many kinds of cloth flat grinding instruments, and now the Martindale abrasive tester is the most widely used in the testing industry, so the flat grinding method is often used. It is called the MARTINDALE friction test machine method.

(3) Experimental principle: The round sample installed in the sample holder of the Martindale wear tester, under the specified load, is tested by Li Sharu (The plane movement of de Lissajous) figure rubs against the abrasive (that is, the standard substance), and the specimen holder is free to rotate about its axis perpendicular to the horizontal plane. The abrasion resistance of the leather is determined based on the total number of rubs to which the sample has been damaged.

(4) Experimental method: During the experiment, the test sample of a certain scale is in contact with the standard abrasive under the specified pressure, and the sample is relativelyef relative to the abrasive with the Lissajous locus movement, so that the test sample is subject to uniform wear in multiple directions.

2. Taber abrasion method (1000 times)

(1) Refer to the specification : "GB/T2726-2005 Determination of abrasion resistance of leather in physical and mechanical experiments".

(2) Experimental instrument: TABER wear resistance testing machine

(3) Experimental principle: pre-grinding 25 Rotate , place it to test sample on the horizontal platform of the TABER wear-resistant testing machine to rotate, two grinding wheels are given a specific pressure to press the test piece optional, the axis of the grinding wheel is parallel to the horizontal plane, one grinding wheel facing outward and the other facing inward , write down all the changes in the quiz sheet within a certain time.

(4) Experiment method: use a knife to cut the outer diameter of 108mm, sample with ainner diameter of 8 mm. Then stick a hard sticker with the same scbier on the back of the sample. Place the center hole of the sample on the rubber pad of the screw, put the gasket on it and fix the sample with the compression nut. Then insert the fixing ring and lock the fixing ring screw with a wrench. Install two H18 grinding wheels on the support arm, each grinding wheel exerts a force of 250 ± 10g on the sample to be tested, make sure that the side with the label is facing out, and make sure that the grinding wheel has a load of 500g, close the on the vacuum cleaner , and suck the dust from the vacuum cleaner Connect the hose to the connection on the left side of the machine and start the vacuum cleaner. Set the number of tests according to the specifications and set the rotation speed to 72 revolutions. Then press the start button, start the instrument with a rotational speed of 60 ± 5 times / min, rotate horizontally, and run the testaccording to the required number of times. In the experiment, use a brush to remove the attachments on the surface of the sample, observe the word condition of the experiment, grind the leather to the specified end point, and record the final number of revolutions.

Judging by the test methods of the above two experiments, the results of the test methods for the wear resistance of different materials are not the same. The MARTINDALE method for friction testing machines is to express the wear resistance by the end point and appearance change. The TABER abrasion tester method is to record the number of rubs as an indicator of wear resistance.

It makes no sense to compare the test results obtained by using the same experimental method on different materials, but the conclusions drawn from these results are consistent. Therefore, each method can be independentquantitatively evaluate the abrasion resistance of the material. Comparing the above test results, it can be seen that the natural leather material is relatively soft under normal conditions, so the wear resistance is relatively poor. COated leather has a harder texture and is not easy to wear, so it has better wear resistance.

For leather products, wear resistance is also related to the size, shape, testing environment, wearing environment, subjective error, instrument accuracy, etc. of the product, so when judging the wear resistance of leather it is necessary to take into account various factors as much as possible in order to get a more objective answer.
