Analysis of the test procedure for fabric pilling behavior

Author:QINSUN Released in:2022-12 Click:165

Product Description:

At present, the methods for testing the pilling performance of fabrics in household laboratories and textile enterprises are mainly random drum pilling test method and the Box Pilling Test Method, the Martindale Pilling Abrasion Tester Test Method and the Circular Web Pilling Tester Test Method.

Random Pilling Test Method:

Test Instrument: Random Pilling Ball -Tester.

In this test method, fabric samples are inverted in a cork-lined cylindrical test chamber fitted with a stirring rod and rubbed against each other others and against the walls of the room. The movement of the fabric sample is random and the processing time varies. The advantage of this method is that its random movement is very similar to the load situation of the tisknown during the actual wearing process, however, during the test, that is, the treatment, the tissue sample is subjected to RThe stirring rod is stuck The intensity of the tissue is inhomogeneous, so that the reproducibility of the experimental results is poor. This test procedure is mainly used in DIN53867 and ASTM3512 standards.

Circular Track Pilling Test Method:

Test Equipment: Tester circular path pilling bead

In this test method, first use a nylon brush to fluff the fabric sample in a circular path under a specified pressure , then use a standard fabric to test the sample. Relative friction to boil the sample. This test method is widely used in my country and can be used for synthetic fabrics, worsted blended fabrics, worsted and carded woolen fabricss. The standard pressure of different fabrics is different, and the number of friction turns of lint and pilling is also different. The reference standard is GB/T4802.1.

Box type pilling test method:

Test instrument: pilling of box type Pilling Tester

In this test method, the fabric sample is placed on a rubber tube and placed in a wooden box lined with cork, and the central axis of the box rotates to perform the test. The sample is turned over and the sample rubs against the rubber tubing and cork causing the sample to fray and fray. In this test method, the movement of the sample is random, and the repeatability of the test results is also good. However, many factors affect fabric pilling during testing, such as: B. surface roughness of cork and rubber tubing. This test method is suitable for fabrics that tend to pilling, e.g. B. Wool fabrics. Reference standards include BS5811, IWSTM152, JISLIO76 and GB4802.3.

Martindale Pilling Test Method:

Test Instrument: Martindale Pilling Tester

In this test method, the fabric sample is installed on a specific jig and rubbed against the same type of fabric that is installed on the grinding table below. some pressure to fluff and pill the fabric. The displacement trajectory of the sample is given and its displacement law is adapted from the Lissajous diagram. This test method simulates the hairballs formed by the mutual friction of the tissue samples, and the defined trajectory and the specified pressure can ensure the high repeatability of the experimental results. Reference standards include GB/T4802.2, 150-2945, ASTMD4966, etc.
